Scholarship Deadlines

SEPTEMBER

The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding high school seniors from low-income households (i.e. Pell-eligible). Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Their round 1 application deadline is September 15.

The Coca Cola Scholarship is worth $20,000 and is awarded to 150 students each year. The first round application requires no essays, no transcript, and no recommendations. The deadline is September 30.

The QuestBridge National College Match connects high-achieving students from limited-income backgrounds (<$65k per year households) with partner colleges that offer full four-year scholarships. The deadline to apply is September 30.

OCTOBER

The Evans Scholarship is a full tuition and housing scholarship for high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. The application deadline is October 15.

The Davis New Mexico Scholarship is due 5 PM Friday, October 17.

The Daniels Scholarship covers the full cost of attendance at its partner schools and up to $25,000 a year at schools outside its four-state region for low-income students in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah. The deadline to apply is October 17

NOVEMBER

The Elks Scholarship ranges from $1,000-$7,500 per year, and is awarded to 500 students nationwide. Applicants are evaluated on their leadership, academic record, community involvement, and financial need. The application deadline is November 12

The Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship is a highly selective, last dollar scholarship that covers up to $55,000 per year of the remaining balance after institutional financial aid. Along with the scholarship, recipients receive personalized advising related to college selection, financial aid, the transition to college, and maximizing the student experience. It is available to non U.S. Citizens. The application deadline is November 12

DECEMBER

The Hagan Scholarship supports high-achieving, goal-driven students in their goal to graduate college debt-free. Hagan provides up to $15,000 per year in scholarship, plus a $2,000 starter grant, and also gives students money to invest in the stock market. The application deadline is December 1

December 1 is the priority scholarship deadline for most in-state and WUE schools.

Point Foundation Flagship Scholarship supports LGBTQ+ and ally students. Recipients receive financial support, access to multiple leadership development programs, mentorship or coaching, and the support of a community of scholars and alumni. The application deadline is December 5 at 6 PM MT.

The Coolidge Scholarship offers a full cost-of-attendance scholarship to any college in the country for exceptional students interested in public policy and with experience in leadership and service. Finalists attend an interview weekend in Vermont (fully covered for student and a parent). Please note this application is for current 11th grade students. The 25-26 application deadline has not been announced, but last year the application deadline was December 11.

JANUARY

LANL Four-Year Undergraduate Scholarship is open to students who are residents of Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe or Taos Counties. Awards range from $1,000 for a single year up to $20,000 over four years. The 25-26 application deadline has not been announced, but last year the application deadline was January 21.

The Fidelity Scholars Program is for historically underrepresented students from New Mexico and a few other states. It is a last dollar scholarship that covers the remaining need after financial aid has been disbursed to the student. It can be used at any institution in the state (public or private) where the student resides and is for students with GPAs that are between 2.5-3.5. The 25-26 application deadline has not been announced, but last year the application deadline was January 30.

FEBRUARY

The Sunflower Initiative is a $10,000 one year scholarship (with the possibility of renewal) for female or non-binary students interested in studying at a women’s college in the US or Canada. The deadline is February 1

NMAA Foundation Scholarships for athletics and activities range are due February 1.

NM Women in Tech Awards Scholarship awards two $2,500 scholarships to 2 women interested in beginning or pursuing an education in tech or STEM fields. The deadline is February 1

Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers 10,000 students a year support in the form of mentorship, career services, and conferences. Selected students are also eligible, though not guaranteed, to receive scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000. The first round of the application doesn't require an essay. If eligible, students can apply every year, even through graduate school. The deadline is February 15.

MARCH

Horatio Alger Association administers scholarship programs for current high school juniors and seniors. Each year, two juniors from every state win $25,000 and finalists win up to $10,000. You can use the filter feature to look at opportunities for seniors as well, but they are more limited. For students whose families earn less than $65,000 per year and who have overcome challenges. The application deadline is March 1.

The RMACAC Student Scholarship is a $1,000 award offered to three New Mexican students who exhibit a commitment to learning, demonstrate leadership skills, and are committed to serving their communities. The deadline to apply is March 7.

The Taos Community Foundation has seven scholarships available to students ranging from $250-$60,000. Some of them are for students in Taos, while others are not. The deadline to apply is March 10. 

The Women at Microsoft Scholarship Program offers a one-time $5,000 award to twenty-six high school seniors who identify as women and plan to enroll full-time in a tech, engineering, math, or computer science related undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. The deadline to apply is March 13.

Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative Electric Foundation & Tri-State Scholarships are two separate opportunities for current high school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative. Awards may be used at any two- or four-year accredited university, college, or vocational/technical school. The deadline to apply is March 21.

The Cobell Scholarship is for high achieving, community involved college students who are enrolled tribal members. Students can continue applying each year, including graduate school. The deadline to apply is March 31.

APRIL

The Albuquerque Community Foundation has many scholarships available to students statewide. To start an application for any, register for an account. The Sussman Miller Educational Assistance Fund is the largest award available and can award up to $8,000 to cover unmet need for both in- and out-of-state institutions. There is an extensive eligibility quiz to start, and the application has many parts. The deadline to apply for out-of-state colleges or in-state private colleges is April 3. Current college students may also apply.

MAY

The Hadden Scholarship awards up to $10,000 per year to high school seniors with demonstrated financial need, for up to four years of college undergraduate study. Hadden Scholars must be U.S. citizens matriculating at a four-year accredited college or university established in the United States. There is a minimum unweighted grade point average requirement, 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. The deadline to apply is May 15.

The Cameron Impact Scholarship (for current 11th graders) is a merit-based four-year, full-tuition, impact-driven undergraduate scholarship awarded annually to 15 exceptional high school students who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, community service, extracurricular activities, and academics. Early Application Deadline for the Class of 2026 is May 21 at 1PM MT.

JUNE

Santa Fe Community Foundation offers multiple scholarship opportunities. In addition to regionally-based scholarships that apply more locally, the Sussman-Miller Educational Assistance Fund offers awards that can be used at either in-state or out-of-state institutions. It focuses on closing the gap for students who have financial need. The deadline to apply is June 1.

Mana del Norte Scholarship offers ten awards to Hispanas/Latinas from one of the following northern New Mexico counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, San Miguel, or Taos. Students can be working toward Associates, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees. MANA del Norte is especially interested in supporting women with a cultural connection to Northern New Mexico and who are first-generation, and/or have other areas of challenge such as re-entering college, or being the head of their household. The deadline to apply is June 1.
